The foreign ministers of Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Egypt welcomed Britain's ban on imports from Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territory in a joint statement issued on Wednesday, and urged other governments to follow.اضافة اعلان

The eight said they hoped the British measure, which also restricts services linked to settlements, would push the international community toward comparable action and toward holding settlement organisations and individuals to account.

They also welcomed the separate statement on the two-state solution issued by the foreign ministers of Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom, in which those governments said they intend to introduce national restrictions on trade with settlements, support European measures, or actively consider such steps under their own procedures.

The ministers described those intentions as consistent with international law and with UN resolutions, citing Security Council Resolution 2334 of 2016 and the International Court of Justice advisory opinion of July 19, 2024. That opinion holds that states must not recognise as lawful the situation created by Israel's occupation, nor assist in maintaining it. On that basis, the eight repeated their call for Israel to rescind settlement measures and any others intended to alter the geographic and demographic character of the occupied territory.

The statement identifies Gaza as an integral part of the occupied Palestinian territory and calls for the full and immediate implementation of what it terms President Trump's comprehensive plan to end the Gaza conflict, covering security, humanitarian conditions, reconstruction and the basis for a durable settlement.

The only viable route to a just and lasting peace, the ministers said, is a two-state solution producing an independent, sovereign, contiguous and viable Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital.
