The United Nations has condemned cross-border attacks by the Houthi group on multiple sites in southern Saudi Arabia, warning of the consequences of continued military escalation in Yemen for civilians and critical infrastructure.

UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric said at a press briefing that the organization was "deeply concerned" by reports of civilian casualties resulting from the Houthi attacks, as well as their impact on energy infrastructure.
Dujarric also expressed concern over escalating clashes on several fronts in Yemen, particularly reports of civilian casualties resulting from the fighting.
He called on all parties to exercise restraint and prevent further escalation, urging them to uphold their obligations under international humanitarian law, refrain from targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure, and take all necessary precautions to protect the population and civilian objects.
Dujarric added that UN Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg continues to engage directly with the parties in an effort to contain the current escalation and keep the door open for dialogue.
The UN spokesperson warned that continued military escalation would have "devastating political, economic and security consequences" for Yemen, calling on the parties to engage constructively in the UN-led political process.
