On Tuesday, Trump extended the two-week-old truce with Iran while emphasizing that the U.S. blockade on Iranian ports remains in place. Writing on his "Truth Social" platform, he stated that he would extend the ceasefire until Iran presents a proposal to end the war, but noted that he had issued "directives to the military to continue the blockade" of Iranian ports.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated during a press conference that "the current regional situation stands at a critical juncture between war and peace, and the top priority remains making every effort to prevent the resumption of hostilities."
Guo did not comment directly on the ceasefire when questioned, merely stating that Beijing would continue to play a "constructive" role.
