The crash occurred on June 23 on a road near the Sella Pass, where the 30-year-old collided with Peter Runggaldier, 57, a former Italian skier who represented Italy at the Winter Olympics.

The impact split Hartig’s bicycle in two and left her with severe injuries after she fell onto the road. Emergency responders revived her at the scene before transferring her to a hospital.

She died on Saturday in Germany, surrounded by family and friends, 19 days after the accident.

The incident occurred just two days after Hartig’s wedding. She had built a following on Instagram by sharing content about travel, skiing, and cycling.

In a statement, Runggaldier said: “I ask for respect during this time of grief and for my need for privacy.”

“My heart is with everyone affected and their families. I will not be making any further statements at this time,” he added.
