Meta recently updated its commercial terms of service, stating that the company could “use any content from commercial account domains, their web pages or website addresses to provide, develop, improve, research, train and maintain the safety of Meta’s products and services.”اضافة اعلان

According to legal experts who spoke to Nieman Lab, the clause appeared “unusual,” as it could grant Meta permission to collect content from the websites of any media organization with a commercial account on its platform and use that content to train its AI models.

Although Meta won a high-profile copyright infringement lawsuit last year, other lawsuits against AI companies, including Meta, are still ongoing.
However, a Meta spokesperson confirmed that the updated terms did not reflect any change in the way the company crawls websites.

The Verge reported that the company had removed the clause.
In a statement, Meta said: “We’ve heard your feedback and want to clarify: the crawling terms we consolidated in one place applied only to our advertising and business products, and we made that clear in the terms themselves. This does not change how Meta uses web crawlers.”
