The Russian Foreign Ministry released images of Lavrov’s arrival as he descended from his aircraft. This visit occurs amid a period of intense diplomatic activity focused on the Middle East crisis, a sphere where both China and Russia maintain alliances with Iran and stand as rivals to the United States.
Diplomatic Context
Tehran Outreach: On Monday, Lavrov held a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, according to his office.

China's Mediating Role
During talks with the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, Chinese President Xi Jinping pledged that China would play a "constructive role" in promoting Middle East peace talks and contribute to "restoring peace and tranquility in the Gulf region," as reported by Chinese state media.
Chinese diplomacy is credited with playing a significant role in the current ceasefire between Iran and the United States and facilitating ongoing talks, despite the extreme secrecy surrounding the details of Beijing’s movements.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated on Monday that Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Lavrov will "exchange views and coordinate positions on strengthening bilateral relations, cooperation in various fields, and international and regional issues of common concern."
"In recent years, both countries have consistently deepened their long-standing friendship and good-neighborly ties, while expanding the scope of their comprehensive strategic coordination," Guo added.
