Iranian authorities announced that at least 18 people were killed and 76 others injured as a result of attacks launched by the United States on Iran, which began Tuesday evening and continued into the early morning hours.

Hormozgan deputy governor Ahmad Nafisi said 4 people were killed and 68 others injured when a U.S. strike hit a house where a wedding celebration was taking place in the city of Kuhestak, in Sirik county.
Khuzestan deputy governor Waliullah Hayati reported that 7 people were killed and 8 others injured in missile strikes that targeted three sites in the province overnight.
In a statement issued by Iran's Revolutionary Guard, it was announced that 4 military personnel affiliated with the Aerospace Force Command were killed in Kermanshah province, in addition to 3 members of the Basij mobilization forces killed in an attack that targeted Lavan Island.
On Wednesday, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the completion of a wave of strikes that began Tuesday, targeting sites belonging to Iran's Revolutionary Guard inside Iran, while Tehran retaliated by striking what it described as American bases and targets in Arab countries in the region.
The United States and Israel had launched a war on Iran on February 28, 2026, during which the strategic Strait of Hormuz vital for oil exports and global supply chains was closed.
Iran responded with attacks on Gulf states and on what it described as "American targets" in the region, before a ceasefire was reached.
On June 18, 2026, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding to end hostilities and reopen the Strait of Hormuz to shipping, but implementation later stalled due to disputes over enforcement and the security of the waterway.
Clashes resumed in July, before CENTCOM announced on Tuesday the resumption of its strikes on targets inside Iran.
