In a statement to the Jordan News Agency (Petra), Obeidat said that Wustiya Agriculture will continue to support farmers throughout the season by providing technical guidance and assistance, while working to mitigate the impact of reduced yields. He stressed that the olive season is not only an agricultural cycle but also a symbol of self-reliance, blessing for the region, a primary source of income for rural families, and an important sector in the local economy.
He highlighted efforts to raise farmers’ awareness about the importance of preserving olive trees and strengthening young saplings to ensure sustainable future production. He urged farmers to follow technical guidelines during harvesting to guarantee oil quality, and to adopt modern harvesting methods such as nets and mechanical shakers.
Obeidat emphasized that these measures aim to produce premium extra-virgin oil that preserves the quality and characteristics of traditional local olive oil. He added that Wustiya District has four modern olive presses, all inspected by the Presses Committee, which provided the necessary instructions to ensure the production of high-quality oil.
