According to the commission’s latest data, 77 applications were received for licenses and permits for public EV charging stations, down from 106 applications during the corresponding period in 2025.

On a monthly basis, the EMRC received 19 applications for public charging station licenses in May, out of a total of 34 applications related to the electricity and renewable energy sector. This compares with 20 charging station applications out of 106 total applications in the same sector during May of last year.

Jordan currently has around 250 operational public EV charging stations across the Kingdom. Meanwhile, more than 1,000 charging stations have obtained construction permits and are in various stages of completing the licensing process required to receive operating permits.

The applications received in May also included:

* Eight applications for licenses for individuals working in the electricity and renewable energy sector.
* Six applications to renew previously issued professional licenses.
* One application to amend the license of an existing public charging station.

During the same month last year, the commission also received three applications for new renewable energy professional licenses and seven applications for license renewals, in addition to the charging station applications.

Public and private EV charging in Jordan has been subject to time-of-use electricity tariffs since July 1, 2024.

Under the current tariff structure:

* Peak hours: 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
    * Home charging: 160 fils per kWh
    * Public charging stations: 133 fils per kWh
* Off-peak hours: 5:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
    * Home charging: 108 fils per kWh
    * Public charging stations: 103 fils per kWh

The rates charged by public charging stations do not include the service commission, the maximum limits of which are regulated by the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC).
