Jordan's electricity exports rose 8.3 percent in the first seven months of 2026, reaching 227.9 gigawatt-hours (GWh) compared with 210.4 GWh in the same period last year, according to figures released by the National Electric Power Company (NEPCO).اضافة اعلان

Exported power accounted for about 1.7 percent of NEPCO's total sales through the end of July, up slightly from 1.6 percent a year earlier. Most of that growth came from exports to Iraq. Power delivered to Iraq's General Company for Electricity Transmission, Central Region, reached 95.5 GWh over the seven-month period, up 13.6 percent from 84 GWh a year earlier.

Exports to the Jerusalem District Electricity Company (JDECO), which serves parts of the West Bank, rose 4.4 percent to 127.2 GWh, from 121.8 GWh. Jordan began supplying Iraq with electricity through its national grid at the end of March 2024, under the first phase of an interconnection project linking the two countries' power networks.

The following February, Jordan and Iraq signed a first amendment to their electricity sale contract, under which Jordan supplies power at 132 kilovolts to meet an estimated 40-megawatt load in Iraq's Rutba area. The two sides are now preparing to complete a second phase of the project, which would raise Jordan's total supply capacity to Iraq to about 150 megawatts.

Officials have said that as the interconnection expands over the medium term, supply capacity could eventually reach 500 megawatts.Separately, power exported through the Trebil border crossing with Iraq totaled 5.3 GWh through the end of July, up from 4.5 GWh in the same period last year.

On the domestic side, NEPCO's total sales climbed 1.8 percent to about 13,468.8 GWh through July, an increase of 240.7 GWh over the 13,228.1 GWh recorded in the same period of 2025. Sales to large subscribers and other direct customers rose 5.3 percent, to 338.3 GWh from 321.2 GWh.

Combined sales by Jordan's distribution companies grew 1.6 percent, to 12,902.6 GWh from 12,696.6 GWh. The Jordan Electric Power Company (JEPCO), which serves the Amman area, posted the largest gain among them, with sales up 2 percent to 8,052.5 GWh.

The Irbid District Electricity Company (IDECO) recorded a 1.6 percent increase, to 2,513.9 GWh, while the Electricity Distribution Company (EDCO), which serves southern Jordan, saw sales edge up 0.4 percent, to 2,336.2 GWh.
