In a statement issued on Tuesday, the spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate (PSD) said that the CID’s Cold Case Unit reopened the file of a man who had been reported missing in 2015. The renewed investigation revealed that he had been murdered by his wife, who was subsequently arrested and confessed to the crime.

According to the spokesperson, investigators from the Cold Case Unit, working alongside the North Amman Police Command, re-examined the disappearance case after 11 years. Their investigation led them to suspect the victim’s wife and uncovered evidence linking her to his disappearance.

During questioning, the suspect admitted that 11 years ago she killed her husband during a dispute at their home in northern Amman by striking him on the head and stabbing him. She then buried his body in the yard of the house before reporting him missing.

The spokesperson added that the Public Prosecutor was notified immediately, and authorities have begun searching for the victim’s remains. The suspect has been referred to the Grand Criminal Court Prosecutor, who ordered her detained for 15 days pending investigation on charges of premeditated murder.
