The project will be implemented under a Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) model through a public-private partnership.

The project aims to develop, finance, design, construct, own, operate and maintain a 450-megawatt pumped-storage hydropower facility.
The facility will be built adjacent to the Mujib Dam and will provide seven hours of electricity storage capacity when operating at full load. It will store surplus electricity, particularly solar power generated during daylight hours, and feed it back into the grid during periods of peak demand.
The project will help enhance the flexibility of the electricity system, increase the integration of renewable energy, improve energy security and reduce reliance on imported fuels.
