His remarks came during a meeting on Wednesday with members of the Future Dialogues of Amman Group, attended by the group’s chairman, Bilal Al Tal, and Senator Mahasen Al-Jaghoub.

Al-Odat said that Jordan, under the leadership of Abdullah II of Jordan, has maintained a strong presence as a voice of wisdom and moderation in a region marked by conflict, through a policy focused on reinforcing security and stability and promoting stability at both the national and regional levels.

He stressed the importance of engaging young people in political party life and empowering them to bring meaningful change in the present and the future. He also emphasized the need to strengthen the presence of political parties in grassroots activities in line with current national requirements.

Al-Odat added that political parties are a fundamental pillar of the national political system and an active partner in strengthening the domestic front, particularly amid the rapidly evolving challenges and growing complexities facing the region. He noted that these circumstances require greater unity, cooperation, and collective action.

He further highlighted the importance of enhancing the role of political parties in expressing citizens’ aspirations and contributing to the formulation of public policies, thereby supporting the state’s development, strengthening public trust in institutions, and reinforcing citizens’ sense of participation in decision-making.

Regarding the Local Administration Law, Al-Odat explained that the proposed amendments to the draft legislation are part of broader efforts to improve municipal governance, with the goal of enhancing the quality and efficiency of services provided to citizens.

For their part, members of the Future Dialogues of Amman Group underscored the importance of political parties in nation-building and strengthening democratic life. They argued that a large number of parties does not necessarily serve the national interest and suggested that mergers among parties could help create stronger and more effective political organizations.
