Ministry spokesperson Omar Salameh said the ministry will pump increased quantities of water to areas affected by the suspension during the maintenance period—which lasted from Sunday morning until Thursday—in order to compensate for the temporary shortfall in supplies.

Salameh added that the planned shutdown affected 53 areas across Amman and Zarqa, noting that water distribution will proceed according to the ministry’s regular rotation schedule to ensure fair and equitable allocation of resources to all areas.

The Ministry of Water and Irrigation, the Water Authority of Jordan, Miyahuna Water Company, and the operator of the Disi water pipeline (Diwaco) had previously announced the suspension of Disi water pumping to carry out the annually scheduled routine maintenance on several components of the system.
