The directive came after the minister received the report of the National Dam Safety Committee, which had inspected all dam sites across the Kingdom to ensure their readiness for the season and the safety of vital water infrastructure to handle inflows.
The Jordan Valley Authority confirmed that its technical teams carried out all necessary maintenance, prepared facilities, and cleaned stream and valley channels to maximize the benefits of rainfall, contributing to enhanced water harvesting, availability for all uses, support for economic development, and food security, in line with the Economic Modernization Vision and the 2023–2040 Strategic Water Plan.
The National Dam Safety Committee, composed of experts and specialized technicians, conducted inspections and field surveys of stream channels near dams to monitor their performance and readiness to withstand floods, as well as to track water discharge and analyze measurements, ensuring real-time data is relayed to the Ministry’s operations center, the National Center for Security and Crisis Management, and other relevant authorities for necessary action.
The committee’s work also includes preparing regular water balance assessments for all dams and monitoring inflows, outflows, losses, storage levels, and controlled releases to meet various needs.
