In its statement, the embassy confirmed that there are currently no changes to departure options or mission operations. It noted that it is closely monitoring regional developments and will continue to provide U.S. citizens with the necessary updates to make informed safety decisions.
The embassy warned of potential risks, noting that Iran has targeted civilian sites across the Middle East, including hotels, airports, and embassies. U.S. citizens were advised to be prepared to shelter in place and to secure basic necessities such as food, water, and medicine.
The alert also emphasized the need to stay informed of any emergencies or sudden changes, and to adhere to instructions from local authorities and embassy directives.
Regarding departure options, the embassy clarified that commercial flights remain available through Queen Alia International Airport, encouraging those wishing to leave to utilize them while travel is still deemed safe.
The statement further indicated that land border crossings with neighboring countries remain operational, though hours of operation may vary and are subject to change based on security conditions. Additionally, ferry services between the city of Aqaba and Egypt remain available.
The embassy pointed out that the U.S. Department of State had previously ordered the departure of non-emergency personnel and their family members from Jordan. It also confirmed that all routine consular services have been suspended, while 24-hour emergency assistance for U.S. citizens remains available.
