Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II visited the Baptism Site of Jesus Christ, known as Al-Maghtas, on Monday, directing officials to improve the experience for Christian pilgrims and visitors.

The Crown Prince was accompanied by Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, Chief Advisor to His Majesty the King for Religious and Cultural Affairs, His Majesty's Personal Envoy, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Baptism Site Authority. Together they reviewed the services currently provided to pilgrims and visitors at the site.
Al Hussein stressed the importance of planning for the 2000th anniversary of the Baptism of Jesus Christ, to be marked in 2030, in a way that reflects the historical significance of both the occasion and the site. He said the occasion should reinforce the Kingdom's standing as a global destination for Christian pilgrimage.
The Crown Prince also called for greater promotion of the Baptism Site, in coordination with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the Jordan Tourism Board, and all relevant partners.
Also accompanying the Crown Prince on the visit were Princess Maryam Ghazi, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Dr. Imad Hijazeen, Director of the Crown Prince's Office Dr. Zaid Al-Baqaeen, and Director General of the Baptism Site Authority Abdullah Al-Bawari.
