The government has issued a tender for the King Hussein Bridge Public Transport Station project at a cost of JD 2.6 million to alleviate traffic congestion at the bridge's gate, according to Abla Weshah, the media spokesperson for the Land Transport Regulatory Commission (LTRC).اضافة اعلان

Weshah stated that the project will be built on an area of 17.5 dunams adjacent to the current border center, with completion expected by mid-next year.

She added that the project will enhance services for arriving and departing passengers. It will feature yards, fences, sidewalks, lanes, and parking spaces for public transport vehicles (bridge service taxis) operating to and from the bridge.

She explained that the project includes 138 parking spaces for medium and small buses, two pickup spots for tourist rental cars, four vehicle charging stations (two for public vehicles and two for private ones), and 87 parking spaces for private cars, including two for people with disabilities.

Furthermore, she noted that the project will include several buildings, such as a two-story administrative, service, and commercial building spanning 1,300 square meters. This building will house a waiting lounge for arriving passengers, passenger service facilities, a prayer room, commercial shops, and administrative offices for the LTRC and the future station management company. It will also feature a rest area for drivers, a building for traffic controllers, a tire maintenance station building, and a control room building for the rental parking area.

She pointed out that the buildings and lanes will feature various types of canopies (aluminum and wood), with canopies designed over most parking spots. She highlighted that all these buildings will be air-conditioned and the project will be powered by a solar energy system.

The Government Tenders Department has floated the tender for supervising the implementation of the King Hussein Bridge Public Transport Station, which consists of the services building, the control building, and external works.

The department called upon Jordanian engineering offices and consulting firms classified under a valid classification certificate issued by the department in the field of buildings (First Class) to participate. Interested parties can download the tender documents from the Government Tenders Department website or through the Jordan Online E-Procurement System (JONEPS).

The department emphasized that a bidder's offer will not be accepted if the classification certificate issued by the Government Tenders Department has expired by the proposal submission date, regardless of any extensions to the submission deadline. The beneficiary of this project is the Land Transport Regulatory Commission.
