The period for receiving feedback on the electronic survey regarding the proposal to implement a four-day work week ends today.
The Public Service and Administration Bureau had previously extended the period for public sector employees to submit their opinions on the 4-day schedule due to high participation rates and to allow a larger number of staff to contribute their views.

The President of the Public Service and Administration Bureau, Fayez Al-Nahar, previously emphasized that the decisive factor in the decision to close government departments for three days a week is the continued delivery of services with current levels of efficiency and effectiveness. He noted that any impact on this continuity would determine the timing and implementation of the decision.
Al-Nahar stated that the justifications for pursuing the option of reducing working days include increasing employee productivity, achieving a better work-life balance, and reducing operational costs for both the government and the employees.
He explained that the concept has positive implications for employees by giving them space to improve their skills or pursue private projects that provide additional income.
Al-Nahar outlined several options the government might adopt, including a gradual transition starting with departments that are more digitally mature in terms of service delivery. He added that other proposals include implementing two types of flexible work patterns within a single department: remote work and flexible start and end times.
He pointed out that certain roles might be granted flexible work options based on the proposed models, such as administrative and intellectual positions, as well as those working in research and other specialized fields.
