Syria’s authorities announced on Tuesday that they had thwarted an attempt to smuggle large quantities of drugs into Jordan.
In a statement, the Syrian Ministry of Interior said that the Anti-Narcotics Department carried out a series of well-planned, high-quality operations in southern regions, targeting a criminal network specializing in drug trafficking and smuggling. The operations resulted in the arrest of individuals identified as “A.R.,” “J.R.,” “N.K.,” and “M.R.,” and the seizure of a large quantity of narcotics prepared for smuggling into Jordan.

According to the statement, the confiscated items included approximately 2,050,000 Captagon pills and 605 slabs of hashish, with an estimated total weight of 151 kilograms. The seized materials also included 10 helium gas cylinders, 75 balloons, 30 plastic mortar shells, a launcher used to fire these shells filled with narcotics, a drone, and communication devices.
The ministry added that all seized items were fully confiscated and that those arrested were referred to the competent judiciary to take the necessary legal measures against them.
