Jordan in Times of War: Protecting Citizens, Standing with Allies, and Advocating for Dialogue
Every day, Jordan strives to extinguish the fires of conflict erupting in its surrounding region. It consistently refuses to open its airspace or borders to any warring party, maintaining that the language of dialogue is the foundation for resolving any dispute. Jordan has declared to the world that its protection is the primary objective, while asserting that respecting the sovereignty of brotherly and friendly nations is a non-negotiable duty.اضافة اعلان

Since the outbreak of hostilities between the United States, the Israeli occupation, and Iran, Jordan’s stance—consistently voiced by His Majesty King Abdullah II—has been clear on three main pillars:

No use of Jordanian airspace by any party to the conflict.

No acceptance of sovereignty violations against any Arab nation.

The solution lies in dialogue and de-escalation in a region that can no longer endure more wars.

A Wise Leadership in a Turbulent Region
Former Minister of Government Communications, Faisal Al-Shbool, told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that at every security or strategic turning point, Jordan proves it is guided by a wise leadership capable of navigating international political shifts and the difficult conditions of a region exhausted by conflict.

Al-Shbool noted that Jordan was clear from the start: it would not allow its airspace to be compromised. However, during the ongoing escalation, the Iranian side directly targeted Jordan with ballistic missiles. He added that Jordan condemns such aggression, especially when it extends to brotherly Arab nations that have no part in the war. This firm stance has garnered international support, with global leaders affirming to His Majesty that any assault on Jordan or Arab sovereignty is unacceptable.

Internal Unity and National Identity
Sultan Al-Khalayleh, President of the Sanad Association for Youth Thought and Action, emphasized that Jordanian national identity is most evident when the homeland faces unjustified aggression. He stated that "Jordan First" is not just a slogan but a reality, where Jordanians stand as one behind their leadership, the Arab Army, and security agencies.

He highlighted that the Jordanian youth serve as the first line of defense in the battle of awareness, rejecting rumors and reinforcing the internal front to preserve stability.

International Law and Sovereignty
Dr. Omar Al-Akour, Professor of International Law at the University of Jordan, explained that from a legal perspective, the passage of missiles and drones through Jordanian airspace constitutes a violation of sovereignty and a clear threat to public safety.

He affirmed that Jordan’s interception of objects entering its airspace is a practical application of the Principle of Sovereignty. Under international law and the national constitution, the state has a duty to protect its people from external aggression while simultaneously leading diplomatic efforts to resolve conflicts through peaceful means.
