AMMAN— The Public Security Directorate (PSD) issued a warning regarding the hot air mass expected to affect the Kingdom starting Thursday, peaking on Saturday and continuing through the middle of next week, according to weather bulletins issued by relevant authorities.

The PSD called on citizens and residents to adhere to preventive guidelines to minimize the risks of sunstroke, heat exhaustion, and fires.
In an official statement, the Directorate confirmed its full readiness to handle all emergency calls and provide assistance 24/7. It stressed the importance of avoiding direct exposure to sunlight, particularly during peak afternoon hours, to prevent sunstroke and heat exhaustion.
The Directorate also advised drinking plenty of fluids—especially water—wearing lightweight, loose-fitting clothing, using protective headwear or hats, and taking adequate rest periods, particularly for individuals whose jobs require prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
Furthermore, the PSD emphasized the absolute necessity of never leaving children inside parked vehicles under any circumstances, and removing flammable items such as hand sanitizers, lighters, and perfumes from vehicles, as they pose a significant fire hazard in high temperatures.
It also urged parents to monitor their children and prevent them from playing outdoors under direct sunlight for extended periods for their own safety.
Regarding general public safety, the Directorate stressed the importance of avoiding electrical socket overloads caused by running multiple high-power appliances—such as air conditioners and fans—on a single power source to prevent electrical fires. It also called on the public to refrain from throwing cigarette butts on roadsides or near dry grass, and to stay away from dense grassy areas that may harbor reptiles like scorpions and snakes.
The Public Security Directorate reiterated its call for the public to contact the unified emergency number (911) whenever necessary, assuring that its personnel will continue working around the clock to ensure rapid response and maintain public safety.
