AMMAN — An Israeli court on Wednesday charged the
Jordanian detainees, Musab Daajah and Khalifa Al-Anouz, with a list
of “serious” charges, one of which claims the two men conspired to commit
terrorist crimes against Israeli settlers, the detainees’ lawyer, Khalid
Al-Mahajneh, said on Wednesday.

The indictment list
also included charges of illegally entering Israel, and the alleged possession
of knives, according to Mahajneh.
The court session was
closed to the public and the media, Mahajneh told Jordan News, as the court
claimed that the case “includes confidential information that might affect
Jordanian-Israeli ties.”
The trial of the two
detainees, who were arrested by Israeli authorities after sneaking across the
border from Jordan allegedly “armed with knives,” was postponed until next
week, on June 10, upon Mahajneh’s request.
The Foreign Ministry last week summoned the Israeli
ambassador in
Amman to “deliver a harshly-worded message regarding the
detention of two Jordanian citizens in Israel and the way the case and the two
men are being treated by the Israeli authorities.”
Mahajneh earlier revealed that the detainees were being
mistreated and subjected to “horrifying interrogation methods.”
