The Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) confirmed that coordination with the authorities responsible for sighting the Shawwal crescent began several days ago. This proactive approach aims to ensure the best possible conditions for the sighting process.

Raed Rafid Al-Khattab, Director of the JMD and member of the Moonsighting Committee at the General Iftaa Department, explained that the department initiated early communication and coordination with astronomical teams from the Jordanian Astronomical Society. He noted that these teams have been provided with continuous updates on expected weather conditions to select the most suitable observation sites based on precise scientific criteria.
Al-Khattab pointed out that this early coordination reflects the institutional integration between various entities. It contributes to enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of the crescent sighting process, especially given the precise astronomical conditions of this year.
He emphasized that the Meteorological Department will continue to provide technical and informational support until the moment of the sighting, ensuring the best possible environment for observation teams across different regions of the Kingdom.
