On Wednesday, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, held a telephone conversation with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres. They discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the Kingdom and the UN, particularly regarding humanitarian efforts to deliver aid to Gaza and assist refugees.

Safadi and Guterres reviewed the regional situation, primarily developments in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank. Both parties emphasized the necessity of adhering to the ceasefire agreement and fully implementing its provisions.

They also stressed the need for concerted efforts to ensure the sufficient, sustainable, and unimpeded entry of aid into the Gaza Strip. Furthermore, they linked the achievement of stability to a clear political horizon for a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution.

During the call, Safadi and Guterres discussed illegal Israeli measures in the occupied West Bank aimed at annexing occupied Palestinian land. Safadi warned of the gravity of recent illegal Israeli government decisions intended to annex the West Bank by seizing land under the pretext of "state lands" and imposing authority over building and demolition permits in areas under the administrative jurisdiction of the Palestinian National Authority. He noted that such decisions constitute a violation of international law that necessitates international action.

Safadi warned that Israel is undermining all prospects for peace by destroying the chances for a two-state solution.

Additionally, Safadi and Guterres underscored the importance of regional and international cooperation to support the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and provide the necessary funding to enable it to continue its vital services to Palestinian refugees.

Safadi expressed his appreciation for the humanitarian role played by UN agencies and their key contribution to delivering aid to Gaza and meeting the needs of refugees.
