Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Major General Yousef Ahmad Al-Huneiti on Sunday received Lebanese Army Commander General Rodolphe Haykal and his accompanying delegation at the General Command, as part of efforts to strengthen defense and military relations between Jordan and Lebanon.

Haykal was accorded an official military reception ceremony, during which he inspected the guard of honor. The two sides then held talks on prospects for military cooperation and coordination and ways to further strengthen the partnership between the armed forces of the two countries.
The discussions also covered the latest regional and international developments and a number of issues of mutual interest. Both sides stressed the importance of continued coordination and consultation to advance shared interests and support security and stability in the region.
Al-Huneiti emphasized the deep-rooted fraternal ties between Jordan and Lebanon, based on longstanding historical relations and shared positions. He stressed the importance of building on existing cooperation and coordination and broadening the partnership between the two armed forces in a way that serves security and stability and strengthens defense capabilities.
Haykal, for his part, praised the advanced level reached by the Jordanian Armed Forces, highlighting their high level of competence, capability and professionalism. He also commended their role in promoting security and stability, their contributions to humanitarian and relief operations, and their active roles at the regional and international levels.
At the conclusion of the visit, attended by several senior Jordanian Armed Forces officers, the Lebanese Army commander signed the visitors’ book, expressing his appreciation for the warm reception and his pride in the deep ties between the two brotherly countries.
