Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi held extensive talks Friday evening in Paris with French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot, focusing on ways to strengthen the strong partnership between Jordan and France and on regional developments.
Safadi and Barrot affirmed the depth of the friendship between Jordan and France and their shared commitment to strengthening cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, education, defense and other sectors of mutual interest, both bilaterally and within the framework of the strategic partnership with the European Union.
Safadi expressed Jordan’s expectation of active French participation in the Jordan-EU Investment Conference, which the Kingdom will host on November 19.
The two ministers also affirmed their support for efforts to reach a sustainable ceasefire between the United States and Iran.
Talks also addressed developments in the region. Safadi warned of the repercussions of Israel’s unlawful measures and escalatory practices in the occupied West Bank and Gaza, as well as against Syria and Lebanon, on regional security and stability.
Safadi stressed the importance of implementing all provisions of US President Donald Trump’s plan to achieve stability in Gaza.
He also called for international and European action to protect the region, preserve its stability, and safeguard prospects for achieving a just peace from Israeli policies and practices that are pushing the West Bank toward further escalation, violating the sovereignty of Syria and Lebanon, and threatening their security and stability in blatant breach of international law.
Safadi praised France’s position in support of the Palestinian people’s right to freedom and to establish an independent state on their national territory based on the two-state solution. He also highlighted France’s efforts to establish a path toward implementing the solution, stressing the importance of the two-state solution conference held last year through joint Saudi-French efforts.
The two ministers agreed to maintain cooperation and coordination on strengthening bilateral relations and addressing regional and international issues of mutual concern.
