According to a ministry press release, the illegal connections—measuring 2 inches and 1 inch in diameter—were used to divert water to supply large farms, swimming pools, and collection wells in violation of the law.
The operation forms part of the ministry's ongoing campaign to protect national water sources. The ministry confirmed that the illegal taps were disconnected, and official violation reports were filed to initiate legal proceedings against the perpetrators.
