The project, funded by the Saudi Development Fund at a cost of JOD 9 million, reflects ongoing cooperation between Jordan and Saudi Arabia and forms part of the government’s efforts to develop healthcare infrastructure and enhance service quality for citizens across the kingdom. The foundation-laying ceremony was attended by the Saudi ambassador to Jordan, Prince Mansour bin Khalid bin Farhan Al Saud, and the fund’s CEO, Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al-Morshed.

Project Details

The new hospital building will be completed in three phases across four floors:

First Floor: Intensive care, critical care, and cardiac units (1,550 m²)

Second Floor: Emergency and ambulance services (1,303 m²)

Third Floor: Advanced surgical operations (1,660 m²)

Fourth Floor: Educational facilities and supporting services (1,270 m²)

The Minister of Health Dr. Ibrahim Al-Badour stated that the full three-phase project, expected to be completed within three years, will transform the hospital’s capabilities, enabling more surgical procedures, enhancing intensive and cardiac care, and improving emergency response—ultimately raising patient safety and the quality of healthcare services.

The CEO of the Saudi Development Fund, Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al-Morshed, emphasized that the expansion will improve medical infrastructure, critical departments, and working conditions, ensuring sustainable operations and high-quality healthcare standards, as part of Jordan-Saudi development cooperation spanning over 48 years.

Hospital Upgrades

Following the Prime Minister’s inspection visits, the hospital has been reinforced with medical, nursing, administrative, and support staff according to actual needs, alongside immediate maintenance work. Current facilities, including radiology, emergency, and ambulance sections, have been upgraded, entrances and external courtyards improved, and the hospital nursery for staff children rehabilitated. The hospital is also being prepared for educational classification to accommodate university trainees. Once the new building is completed, the existing hospital structure will undergo comprehensive modernization of all departments.

The foundation-laying ceremony was attended by the Governor of Zarqa Firas Abu Qaoud.
