The ministry said that the country’s name did not even appear in the first edition of the book in 2016, adding that no changes were made on subsequent editions. However, he added that it will take note of the issue for future reference.

The ministry said that the map used in the school geography book was issued by the Jordan Geography Center.

The following is the ministry’s clarification:

Trending on social media today was that the Ministry of Education deleted “Palestine’s” name from a map in the 10th grade geography book, and the ministry commented on the matter as follows:

First: The use of the word “deleted” is not accurate, as the name “Palestine” was not included in the first edition of the book in 2016, and no changes were made on the book’s subsequent editions. The ministry has not received similar comments since 2016.

Second: The school maps are issued by the Jordan Geography Center and this map is taken from the same source.

Third: There is no intention to omit Palestine’s name in schools and the Jordan school curriculum proves that; since they include many subjects about Palestine. Palestine is alive in every Jordanian’s heart and the Hashemite leadership.

Fourth: The Ministry of Education stressed that people must look at curriculums as a whole unit and not in part.
Fifth: The ministry also stressed that it will take the point raised into consideration in future editions of the book.
