Ministry of Water: Four Dams Overflow in Southern Jordan
The Ministry of Water and Irrigation / Jordan Valley Authority (JVA) announced the overflow of Al-Tannur and Sheidham dams in Tafilah, Al-Fidan dam in Wadi Araba, and Al-Wuhaidi dam in Ma’an, after reaching 100% of their total storage capacity.اضافة اعلان

The JVA urged citizens, farmers, and livestock owners near valleys and flood-prone areas to take necessary precautions. It also called for coordination with municipalities and relevant authorities, warning against approaching watercourses. The public is advised to follow official updates from the Ministry and the JVA as the Kingdom remains under the influence of unstable weather conditions.

In a related development, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing announced the precautionary closure of the Kings' Highway in the Al-Laban area. This follows the overflow of the Sheidham Dam, which caused significant soil erosion and damage to the road's structure.

The decision was made in coordination with the Governor of Tafilah, Sultan Al-Madi, to ensure the safety of commuters. Initial reports indicate that massive water flows from the dam led to washouts in parts of the Kings' Highway, posing a high risk to traffic.

According to the latest weather radar updates from the Jordan Meteorological Department, southern regions—specifically Karak, Tafilah, and the Shobak district—are experiencing moderate to heavy rainfall. The impact of the cold and humid air mass is deepening, causing temperatures to drop significantly, roughly 7-8°C below the seasonal average.
