Jordan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Ambassador Akram Al-Harahsheh, confirmed that the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF) - the Arab Army - have intercepted and neutralized more than 240 missiles and drones launched by Iran toward the Kingdom’s territory since February 28.

Speaking during Jordan’s address to the UN Human Rights Council on Wednesday, Al-Harahsheh added that the Armed Forces and security agencies have also dealt with over 414 fallen projectiles, resulting in 24 injuries among innocent civilians.
The Ambassador condemned in the strongest terms the attacks targeting Jordan and the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). He described these actions as a "flagrant violation of international law and state sovereignty," reaffirming Jordan’s absolute solidarity with Arab and Islamic nations and its support for measures taken to protect their security and stability.
Impact on Human Rights
Al-Harahsheh pointed out that these attacks and their repercussions pose a direct threat to human rights in the region, specifically the Right to Life, health, and an adequate standard of living.
In this context, he welcomed the UN Security Council’s adoption of Resolution 2817, submitted by Jordan and the GCC. He considered it a significant step reflecting international consensus in condemning Iranian aggression and rejecting any infringement on the sovereignty and security of Arab states.
Call for Diplomacy
The envoy stressed the urgent need to halt the attacks and restore calm, warning against the expansion of the conflict. He emphasized the importance of activating diplomacy and dialogue to consolidate regional security.
Background:
The UN Human Rights Council held an urgent session on Wednesday to discuss the fallout of the Iranian attacks. This follows a formal request submitted last Thursday by Jordan and the GCC for an emergency session to address strikes targeting civilian sites and energy infrastructure across the Middle East.
