An attack on one of the main air release valves along the Disi water pipeline in the Al-Jafr area resulted in the valve breaking and substantial water leakage estimated at around 5,000 cubic meters per day. Meanwhile, technical crews and emergency maintenance teams are working to repair the damage without interrupting the water supply, according to the Ministry of Water and Irrigation.

The Ministry of Water, the operating company of the Disi water system, and Jordan Water Company (Miyahuna) announced that major attacks occurred on the primary air release valves along the conveyance line's path in the Al-Jafr area.
They stated that their technical crews and emergency maintenance teams, along with those from the Disi Water Company (Diwaco), have been working since Thursday evening—the moment the breach was detected—to repair the resulting damage without shutting down pumping from the system. Disi serves as a primary strategic source supplying large parts of the Kingdom, particularly the capital, Amman. Officials confirmed that repair efforts are still ongoing.
The ministry explained that unidentified individuals broke one of the main air release valves located along the pipeline in Al-Jafr to siphon water and illegally fill water tankers, causing massive leakage estimated at nearly 5,000 cubic meters daily.
The ministry categorized the assault on the Disi pipeline—one of the Kingdom's vital water lifelines—as a "flagrant attack." It warned that should pumping be halted, it will severely impact water allocations for several areas and potentially deprive others of adequate drinking water supplies until repairs on the valve and pipeline are completed and normal operations are restored.
The ministry affirmed that it is coordinating with law enforcement authorities to apprehend the perpetrators and enforce the rule of law, stressing that it will take zero-tolerance action against violators.
It noted that the number of attacks handled on the Disi water system from the beginning of 2026 until the end of May reached 780 incidents, while 321 cases were recorded in June and 343 cases in July.
