The formation of the committee at this high level reflects Jordan's dedication to this significant historical event. The committee will serve as the sole authorized national reference body supervising general policies, approving international correspondence and national procedures, and overseeing the planning and execution of events tied to commemorating this anniversary in the Kingdom as the land of baptism and a global destination for Christian pilgrimage.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized the immediate need to begin preparations for the anniversary, implementing the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II to support the initiative presented by the Council of Church Leaders in Jordan under an integrated plan and a clear timeline.

He stressed that commemorating the 2000th anniversary of Christ's baptism reflects Jordan's historical, religious, and international standing under its Hashemite leadership. He noted that it highlights Jordan's civilizational message, its progressive model of mutual respect and peaceful coexistence, and its embodiment of peace, love, and human fraternity.

The Prime Minister pointed out that the government is committing all its capabilities to support this historical event, which presents a unique opportunity to solidify Jordan's status as a land of divine messages, the site of Christ's baptism, and a premier global Christian pilgrimage destination.

The meeting, attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, reviewed plans by the Baptist Site Adjacent Area Development Corporation. These include constructing an integrated Christian pilgrimage and visitor village, the Baptism of Jesus Christ Museum, the Green Corridor, and upgrading local infrastructure.
