Al-Bakkar, speaking during his appearance on Jordan Television’s program “Sixty Minutes,” added that the practices of some individuals in dealing with non-Jordanian workers in violation of the law may amount to human trafficking.
He noted that the ministry has formed a committee, in cooperation with relevant authorities, to curb such practices, emphasizing that legal measures will be taken against anyone who employs or shelters a non-Jordanian worker unlawfully.
Al-Bakkar revealed that the number of valid work permits currently stands at 315,000 across the Kingdom.
He also announced that a new labor market data system will be launched at the beginning of next year, covering all information and requirements related to the labor market.
Regarding job creation, Al-Bakkar reviewed several initiatives and programs implemented by the ministry, including the National Employment Program and the Productive Branches Initiative, which has expanded to 34 branches employing around 10,000 Jordanians—most of them women. New productive branches are scheduled to open next year.
Al-Bakkar further disclosed that 95,000 workers have joined the Social Security Corporation, including 90,000 new subscribers in 2025, partly as a result of the national training and employment programs implemented by the ministry.
