The Director of the Land Transport Regulatory Commission's office in Aqaba, Suleiman Al-Nawafleh, confirmed that the Cabinet's approval to launch the second phase of the inter-governorate regular transport project came following the success achieved in the first phase of the project, which included the operation of 4 main routes: Amman–Karak, Amman–Salt, Amman–Irbid, and Amman–Jerash, as part of efforts to develop the public transport system and improve the quality of service provided to citizens.

Al-Nawafleh stated that the second phase includes the operation of several new routes across the Kingdom, including the Karak–Aqaba route, with 15 buses operating within the modern regular transport system, contributing to the development of public transport services and raising operational efficiency between governorates.
He added that the Commission has currently begun procedures for implementing the requirements of the regular transport system on the Karak–Aqaba route, including completing the necessary technical and operational procedures to operate the route in accordance with approved standards.
He explained that the Commission is working within the framework of transitioning toward an institutional transport model by promoting the concept of cooperative transport rather than competitive transport among operators on a single route, in order to achieve service stability, raise operational efficiency, and ensure the sustainability of the public transport sector.
Al-Nawafleh pointed out that the operation of regular transport services is expected to begin according to prepared schedules during the last quarter of this year, after completing the necessary technical and operational requirements for each route.
