Israeli settlers stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem on Sunday under heavy protection from Israeli police.
Palestinian sources reported that around 240 settlers entered the mosque compound through the Moroccan Gate, also known as Bab al-Maghariba, and carried out provocative tours and performed Talmudic rituals, amid heightened Israeli military measures around the mosque and Jerusalem’s Old City.

Groups affiliated with the so-called “Temple organizations” had called on their supporters to take part in large-scale incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque and to introduce new rituals there, under the pretext of marking the Jewish New Year.
Israeli authorities use Jewish holidays to close roads and impose tighter restrictions on Palestinians’ movement across the occupied West Bank, including Jerusalem, worsening their daily hardships and further restricting freedom of worship and movement. At the same time, settlers are granted greater access and facilities, while Palestinians face restrictions within their cities, villages and towns.
