The Italian President Commends Jordan’s Humanitarian Role in Gaza
His Majesty King Abdullah II and Italian President Sergio Mattarella held talks in Rome on Tuesday, focusing on the strong bilateral relations between Jordan and Italy, as well as regional developments.
His Majesty reaffirmed Jordan’s commitment to strengthening the bonds of friendship with Italy and expanding cooperation, particularly in the tourism, trade, investment, cultural, military, and counterterrorism sectors.
On regional developments, the two leaders underscored the importance of ensuring the full implementation of the Gaza war ceasefire agreement and the delivery of humanitarian and medical aid across all areas of the Strip.
The two leaders, in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, the King’s Chief Adviser for Religious and Cultural Affairs and Personal Envoy, reiterated their support for the two-state solution, the need to restore calm in the West Bank, and to halt settlement activities.
President Mattarella commended Jordan’s humanitarian role in Gaza through the delivery of food and medical aid, and its efforts to provide treatment in Jordan for injured children from the Strip.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, Director of the King’s Office Eng. Ala’ Batayneh, and Jordan’s Ambassador to Italy Qais Abu Dayyeh.
