The King Commends Italy’s Efforts in Hosting a New Round of the “Aqaba Meetings”
His Majesty King Abdullah II and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, during their meeting in Rome on Tuesday, underscored the importance of ensuring the implementation of the agreement to end the war in Gaza, stressing that all parties must work effectively until all its phases are completed.
The King and the Italian Prime Minister emphasized the need to deliver sufficient humanitarian aid to all areas of the Gaza Strip.
His Majesty also stressed the importance of building on the agreement to restore calm in the region and intensify efforts to achieve a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution.
During the meeting, attended by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, the King expressed appreciation for Italy’s support of the two-state solution and its role in humanitarian response efforts in Gaza.
His Majesty warned against escalating measures against Palestinians in the West Bank and the continued violations of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
The King expressed his appreciation for Italy’s efforts in hosting a new round of the “Aqaba Meetings,” scheduled for Wednesday, which will focus on the West Africa region.
The meeting, attended by His Royal Highness Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, the King’s Chief Adviser for Religious and Cultural Affairs and Personal Envoy, covered the historic ties between Jordan and Italy and ways to expand cooperation across various fields.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi and Director of the King’s Office Eng. Ala’ Batayneh also attended the meeting.
