Dr. Jihad Al-Mahamid, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Water and Irrigation, and Dr. Omar Arabiat, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Environment, met on Sunday with a delegation from the German Federal Academy for Security Policy to discuss joint cooperation and address the increasing challenges posed by climate change on water resources.اضافة اعلان

The meeting focused on the key challenges facing the water sector and the measures taken by the ministry to mitigate them, including climate change adaptation. The officials called for benefiting from German technical expertise in water resource management and reducing water loss. The discussion covered the direct impacts of climate change on water realities and the need to adopt innovative solutions to cope with drought and rainfall variability. Key projects implemented by the Ministry of Water, including the National Water Carrier, which will provide 300 million cubic meters of water annually, were also highlighted.

The importance of cross-sector coordination and environmental protection, considered the first line of defense to ensure the sustainability of water resources amid regional climate pressures, was emphasized.

The German delegation expressed its commitment to continue providing technical and expert support to Jordan to help overcome water challenges and strengthen its resilience against climate-related pressures, affirming that Jordan is a key partner in environmental and climate conservation programs.
