During a session with the parliamentary finance committee discussing the Health Ministry’s budget, Al-Badour explained that the ministry’s reliance on purchasing services is due to staff shortages, especially in specialized fields, and noted efforts to improve contracts and strengthen oversight.
He added that the ministry’s medicine stockpile is sufficient for 4 to 6 months. He also praised Ramtha Hospital for its professional handling of recent security incidents and providing all necessary care to the injured.
Al-Badour indicated that the field hospital at Prince Hamzah Hospital will be converted into an emergency and dialysis unit, scheduled to open next month.
On medical tourism, he highlighted it as the primary source of national income, and said the ministry is developing a new actionable plan to improve services, strengthen incentives, and enhance regulatory oversight, which will be presented to parliament soon.
