AMMAN— The initial results of the chemical tests carried out on the ‘red lake’ in the Aghwar region, found that high temperatures and decreasing water levels and high salinity in the dead sea are behind this phenomenon, according to government sources, Al Ghad News reported.اضافة اعلان

Chemical tests on the water and soil carried out by the Ministry of Water and Irrigation and the Jordan Valley Authority found high proportions of salt and minerals including Manganese and iron that formed as a result of geological processes.

The sources said that both the ministry and Jordan Valley Authority had not yet completed the examination of all the samples and was waiting for the remaining tests of all the samples taken from the same site to come in. The rest of the chemical tests require more time for their results to come out, along with the necessary biological tests of samples taken from the area.

The sources confirmed that the results of the biological and chemical tests will be announced as soon as they are finalized.
