Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi said that the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) declaration of famine in Gaza, and the UN Secretary-General’s description of this inhumane reality as a moral indictment and a failure of humanity, reflect the tragic fact that the Israeli government is being allowed to starve Palestinians without accountability.

In a post on X, Safadi stressed that ending this humanitarian catastrophe requires only lifting the Israeli blockade on Gaza and the immediate delivery of humanitarian aid.
He added that Israeli ministers who describe Palestinians as “human animals” will not end their starvation policy unless they face consequences for their crimes.
Safadi underlined the need for urgent international action, saying that no more Palestinians should die due to deprivation of food, water, and medicine, emphasizing that the use of starvation as a weapon constitutes a war crime that can be stopped through the mechanisms provided by international law to hold Israel accountable.
He noted that Israel has rejected all attempts to persuade it to end its inhumane treatment of Palestinians and must be compelled to do so. He reiterated the urgent need for food, water, infant formula, and medicine to immediately flow into Gaza, and for UN humanitarian agencies to be enabled to receive and distribute the aid.
Safadi stressed that the war must end, and all parties should accept the proposed ceasefire agreement, declaring: “Enough killing, enough impunity, enough violations of humanitarian values and international law.”
