The West Amman Magistrate’s Court has ordered two cancer patients to memorize selected chapters from the Holy Quran after referring them to a Quran memorization center in the Jabal Al-Hussein area, as part of an alternative sentence.

In two separate cases, the court convicted the first patient of resisting security personnel, while the second patient was convicted in a traffic accident case. An alternative sentence was applied to each of them.
According to the ruling, the Amman Magistrate Judge obligated both individuals to memorize Quranic chapters over a period of 48 hours, at a rate of five hours per day.
The judge decided to enroll the two cancer patients in a rehabilitation program in consideration of their health conditions, noting that each was convicted in a separate case.
The West Amman Court has applied more than 300 alternative community-based sentences since the beginning of the current year.
