Trump: King Charles Does Not Want Iran to Possess Nuclear Weapons
U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Britain's King Charles does not want Iran to possess a nuclear weapon. These remarks injected the thorny Middle East conflict into a White House state dinner held in honor of the visiting monarch.اضافة اعلان

The banquet took place on the second day of a four-day state visit to the United States, occurring at a time of strained relations. Trump has repeatedly criticized British Prime Minister Keir Starmer for what he described as a failure to provide adequate assistance in the war against Iran.

During the dinner, Trump said, "We are making some efforts in the Middle East right now, and we are achieving very good results." He added, "We have defeated this adversary militarily, and we will never allow it to possess a nuclear weapon... Charles agrees with me on that even more than I do myself."

In remarks following Trump’s speech, King Charles did not mention Iran or the war. As a constitutional monarch, the King does not serve as an official spokesperson for the British government.

The British Embassy in Washington referred an inquiry from Reuters regarding the state dinner remarks to Buckingham Palace, which has not yet responded to a request for comment.

In a speech to Congress earlier, King Charles did not explicitly refer to the Iranian war; however, he alluded to Trump's criticisms of NATO and highlighted the importance of continued U.S. support for Ukraine in its war with Russia, while warning of the risks of isolationism.

Both Britain and the United States have maintained for years that Tehran must refrain from developing nuclear weapons. Tehran, which does not possess nuclear weapons, denies seeking them. It insists on its right to develop nuclear technology for peaceful purposes, including enrichment, as a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
