Norway: We Did Not Pledge to Supply Missiles to Ukraine
Norwegian Deputy Defense Minister Andreas Flom denied the accuracy of media reports claiming that his country pledged to provide Ukraine with air defense missiles, stressing that what has been circulated does not reflect the official position of the Norwegian government.اضافة اعلان

Flom clarified in statements to the Norwegian newspaper VG that his country did not promise to deliver missiles to Kyiv or to purchase them directly. Instead, it announced its readiness to contribute to financing a potential deal if Ukraine manages to secure those missiles from the countries that own them or from the manufacturing companies.

He added that the fundamental issue lies in the limited global stockpile of modern air defense missiles, which makes providing them to Ukraine extremely difficult at the present time, even if funding is available.

The Norwegian official's remarks came in response to a report published by VG newspaper, which indicated that Oslo had pledged to finance the purchase of 200 air defense missiles for Ukraine. Flom denied this, explaining that the discussion is only about a readiness to fund the deal, rather than the existence of a final agreement or a commitment to supply the missiles.

These developments come at a time when European countries continue to discuss ways to strengthen Ukrainian defensive capabilities amid growing pressure to provide more air defense systems to counter Russian attacks, in light of the continuous shortage in missile production and most Western nations relying on limited stockpiles that are difficult to replenish quickly.
