In a statement marking International Workers' Day (observed annually on May 1), the SSC extended its appreciation to all workers in the Kingdom. The Corporation emphasized the necessity for all employees to enjoy social protection and a safe working environment, noting that social security serves as a fundamental pillar of protection by providing income security for workers and their families in cases of old age, disability, death, unemployment, maternity, or work-related injuries.
Retirement and Beneficiary Statistics
The SSC revealed that the cumulative number of retirees has reached approximately 404,000, including over 274,000 active retirees. Among these active retirees are 66,455 females. Additionally, the number of eligible heirs receiving active pension shares stands at nearly 175,000, bringing the total number of active pensioners and beneficiaries to over 449,000.
The Corporation stressed that all operating establishments must commit to enrolling all their employees in social security from their first day of work, based on their actual wages and regardless of the total number of staff, to ensure no worker leaves the labor market without a pension.
Maternity and Childcare Support
Regarding Maternity Insurance, the SSC highlighted its role in boosting the economic participation of women in the private sector. The total number of maternity benefit payments has exceeded 129,000 cases, benefiting approximately 88,258 insured women. The SSC also expanded its related protection programs through the "Ri'aya" (Care) Program, which supports childcare either through nurseries or home care, benefiting around 29,500 insured women to date.
Unemployment and Savings Benefits
Data showed that the cumulative number of beneficiaries from unemployment benefits exceeded 355,644 insured individuals, with more than 1.207 million payment instances. This has significantly supported financial stability during periods of job loss. Furthermore, approximately 582,345 insured individuals have utilized the option to withdraw from their savings accounts for education or medical treatment purposes, totaling over 858,000 withdrawal instances.
Occupational Safety and Work Injuries
The SSC reaffirmed the importance of Work Injury Insurance, which provides coverage from the very first day of employment. Since its inception, the SSC has handled over 534,000 work-related injuries. The Corporation urged employers to strictly implement occupational health and safety standards to ensure a hazard-free work environment.
Finally, the SSC called on all workers to verify their enrollment status to secure protection for themselves and their families, encouraging them to reach out via the Unified Contact Center (117117) or the National Contact Center (065008080) for inquiries or complaints.
