Israeli Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara on Tuesday called on the Shin Bet domestic security agency to provide her with the findings of its investigation into suspected election fraud involving Arab parties, stressing that no evidence had been presented to support the allegations.
“If the Shin Bet or any other body has evidence justifying the opening of an investigation, it must present it,” Baharav-Miara said in a statement distributed to the media by her spokesperson.
Meanwhile, Israeli opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot accused Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday of carrying out a “massacre of democracy” after the attorney general expressed doubts about the integrity of the intelligence services’ investigation into alleged election fraud involving Arab parties.
In a post on X, Eisenkot wrote: “In their distress, Likud and Netanyahu are trying to carry out a massacre of democracy and the rule of law. They are seeking to drag us all into a serious constitutional crisis.”
