Amman - The Council of Ministers Saturday approved the implementation of the tender to develop the Sheikh Sabah Natural Gas Port, the coastal gasification unit.

The project aims to enhance energy security, diversify its sources and options and develop the system and infrastructure related to energy sources as part of efforts to support oil derivative imports and diversify energy sources in the ports of Aqaba.
The project is estimated to cost $125 million.
The Council of Ministers sanctioned the Tax Settlement and Reconciliation Committee to continue receiving settlement requests until the end of 2024 regarding the tax claims of companies, establishments and individuals due by December 31, 2023.
The Council approved the recommendations of the Committee for Settling Pending Issues between Taxpayers and the Income and Sales Tax Department to settle the tax status of 25 companies and taxpayers.
The Council of Ministers approved Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) regulations related to public and service facilities, enhancing prevention and public safety procedures and preserving the environment.
The Council approved a GAM law allowing the Municipality to identify, designate, establish, manage and monitor the locations of forests, parks and public gardens.
The Council of Ministers approved the Nuisance Prevention Law within the boundaries of GAM for 2024, authorising the municipality to take the necessary measures to maintain public health and protect the health and safety of citizens.
The Law will prohibit any act, practice or behaviour that may constitute a health hazard and take the necessary measures and penalties in case of violations.
The Council also approved the Slaughterhouse Regulation and Monitoring Law within the boundaries of the GAM for 2024, authorising the municipality to determine the locations of slaughterhouses, and establish, manage, supervise and monitor them.
The Council approved the GAM Employees Housing Law for 2024. It will offer suitable housing for GAM staff by establishing a housing fund. It will enjoy legal personality, determining the fund's financial resources and the percentage of employees’ contributions.
The Council of Ministers approved an agreement between the Department of Antiquities and the French Institute for the Near East to implement procedures to partially process the archives of the French archaeological missions in Jerash.
