A spokesperson for the Catalan police (Mossos d'Esquadra) told Agence France-Presse (AFP) that "an attempted" armed burglary "took place at a residence in the city of Esplugues de Llobregat" on the outskirts of Barcelona, explaining that they could not reveal the owner's identity to protect their privacy.
According to the Catalan newspaper La Vanguardia, the property belongs to Yamal.
The newspaper reported that two masked individuals climbed the property's wall but fled after being startled by private security guards.
The attempted break-in occurred at dawn, hours after the end of the match in which "La Roja" eliminated "Les Bleus" thanks to a penalty won by Yamal and successfully converted by Mikel Oyarzabal (22'), before Pedro Porro added the second goal (58').
La Vanguardia noted that the property previously belonged to former international defender Gerard Piqué and Colombian singer Shakira when they lived together in Barcelona.
The Catalan police also announced they have opened an investigation into another "robbery with violence" that targeted a home in the same city, close to Yamal's house.
Burglaries targeting the homes of football players—particularly in Madrid—are a common occurrence, with several players falling victim in recent years, most notably France's Karim Benzema, as well as Brazil's Rodrygo and Dani Carvajal.
